Starlink Mini returns and refunds
What Starlink’s return policy covers for a Mini, when the clock starts, what comes back, and what to do if you bought yours in a store.
A starlink.com Mini has a 30 days full-refund window, and the refund includes the first month’s service fee. Past that window, Starlink refunds nothing.
Starlink’s terms start the 30 days at the Payment Due Date, not at delivery. Shipping stays paid. Store-bought Minis go back to the store that sold them, on that store’s terms. Defects after the window fall under the 12-month limited warranty.
When the 30 days start
This is the part people miss. Starlink’s terms don’t start the clock when the box lands on your porch. It starts at the Payment Due Date, which by our reading is the date of your first service charge. Starlink starts billing service at the earliest of three dates: the day you activate, the 7th day after delivery, or the 30th day after shipping when no delivery date exists.
So the clock can start before you’ve set the Mini up, for example while the box waits at home during a trip. Note the date of your first bill and count from there. If the Mini ships while you’re out on the road, write that date down as soon as the bill arrives.
What you get back
In plain words, Starlink’s terms let you send back an undamaged, unmodified kit, plus accessories bought with it on starlink.com, inside 30 days from the Payment Due Date, with no reason needed. What comes back:
- The kit and accessories bought on starlink.com, if they’re undamaged and unmodified.
- Your first month’s service fee. Starlink’s policy refunds it along with the kit.
- Not shipping. Starlink charges shipping and handling on kit orders, and that charge is not refundable.
The terms say “for any reason”, so you don’t need a fault to send it back inside the window. After the window, a fault becomes a warranty matter instead.
After the window: no refund, but there’s the warranty
After the 30-day window, Starlink gives no refund on kits, mounts or accessories. That includes the Mini itself.
What you still have is the limited warranty: 12 months from the date of purchase in the US, whether the Mini came from starlink.com or a store. It covers defects, not a change of plans. For a fault, contact Starlink support from your Starlink account.
Bought it in a store? Return it there
Kits bought from a store or reseller are returned through that store, not Starlink. Starlink’s 30-day refund covers starlink.com orders only. Every store runs its own window and conditions, which this site doesn’t track, so check your receipt or the store’s return policy. The warranty still runs 12 months from your purchase date. More for store buyers: bought your Mini in a store.
How to start a return
Step 1: Check where you bought it
Bought on starlink.com? Starlink handles the return. Bought in a store? Stop here and go to that store: Starlink sends store returns back to the store.
Step 2: Check the date
Find the date of your first service charge and count 30 days from there. That’s the window in Starlink’s terms (our reading of “Payment Due Date”).
Step 3: Start the return from your Starlink account
Start it from your Starlink account, and follow Starlink’s help article on returns for the current steps. We don’t copy them here because Starlink can change them.
Step 4: Send back the kit and accessories
The terms cover a kit that is undamaged, untampered and unmodified, plus any accessories bought with it on starlink.com.
What a return means for a referral
If you ordered through a referral link, a return inside the window ends the subscription before two full billing cycles. The new customer has to keep a high-speed plan active through two complete monthly billing cycles; Standby months don't count. So no referral credit follows a return, for you or for the person who referred you.
If you’re unsure whether the Mini fits your trips or which plan you need, settle that before you order. Mini plans compares the three Roam plans, and Mini price adds up year one.
Buyer questions
What is the Starlink Mini return policy?
Within 30 days, a kit and accessories ordered on starlink.com can go back for a full refund for any reason, first month's service fee included. That covers a Mini from starlink.com. After the 30-day window, Starlink gives no refund on kits, mounts or accessories.
When does the Starlink 30-day return window start?
On the Payment Due Date in Starlink’s terms, which by our reading is your first service charge, not the delivery date. Starlink starts billing service at the earliest of three dates: the day you activate, the 7th day after delivery, or the 30th day after shipping when no delivery date exists.
Is shipping refunded when I return a Starlink Mini?
No. Starlink charges shipping and handling on kit orders, and that charge is not refundable.
Can I get a refund on a Starlink Mini after 30 days?
No. After the 30-day window, Starlink gives no refund on kits, mounts or accessories. Defects are covered by the 12-month limited warranty from the date of purchase.
How do I return a Starlink Mini bought at Best Buy or Walmart?
Through the store. Kits bought from a store or reseller are returned through that store, not Starlink. Check your receipt or the store’s return policy for its window.
Do I get the referral credit if I return the Mini?
No. The new customer has to keep a high-speed plan active through two complete monthly billing cycles; Standby months don't count. A return inside the window ends the service before those two cycles are up.
